A) A power of attorney form (download form).
B) Details of the applicant.
C) Name and citizenship of the inventor.
D) Information about how the applicant acquired the rights over the invention (agreement, work-relationship, etc.), if applicable.
E) Specification comprising description of the invention (with indication of the background art and citation of the prior art documents -if available-, disclosure of the invention as claimed, brief description of the possible drawings and detailed exposition of at least one form of embodiment of the invention) and one or more claims.
F) Abstract of invention (not for utility models), 150 words at most; it may be prepared by our office.
G) Formal drawings, if applicable, on good quality plain paper of A4 size; they may be prepared by our office from informal drawings.
H) Priority details, priority documents and priority rights assignment(s), if applicable.
I) For addition patents: The same as for a patent application, plus details of the main patent or application.
J) For Spanish patent applications coming from a PCT patent application: The same as for a patent application, plus a copy of the international application with description and claims (if modified, all the lodged versions are to be filed, with a copy of any declaration made pursuant to Article 19 of PCT).

Patent (but not utility model) applications are subject to the establishment of a search report on the state of the art. The request would be made, in principle, within 15 months from the earlier priority; when we receive an order for filing a patent application or entering the Spanish phase of a PCT application, instructions are to be given to us as to whether said request is to be filed simultaneously with the application or afterwards.

After the publication of the Search Report, the applicant may file a request for examination of the "patentability" of the invention (including the sufficiency of the disclosure, novelty and inventive step), by paying the corresponding fee.

Minimum details/documents for validly obtaining a filing date and meeting a term are given in para. B), E), I) and J) above, with informal drawings and priority details, if applicable.
